Inspect the RSL: Check that the stainless‐steel snap shackle is operating smoothly and that the spring will retain thelocking pin. Check that the hook and loop fastener is clean and sufficiently tacky to hold the reserve lanyard in place.The pin should be curved from the eye to half way down its length. The rest of the pin should be straight.2. Start by routing the RSL along its hook andloop fastener path alongside the right‐hand riser.Insert the pin‐end of the RSL through the guidering on the #6 top reserve flap. Mate the patchof yellow pile hook and loop fastener on the topreserve flap.3. After threading the reserve ripcord throughthe housing and placing the ripcord handle intoits pocket, insert the RSL pin through the loop atthe end of the reserve ripcord cable.4. Place the rig on a clean surface facing up andwalk on it with stocking feet or clean shoes tohelp expel air from the container and to make itflatter.5. Replace the temporary pin with the reservepin.NOTERSLs should only be installed by a qualifiedrigger.
