177Climate controlAir intakeThe air intakes in front of the windscreen inthe engine compartment must be keptclear to allow air intake. Remove anyleaves, dirt or snow.Pollen filterThe pollen filter cleans dust, soot, pollenand spores from the air entering fromoutside. The active carbon layer 3eliminates most odours and harmfulambient gases from the air.Replace the pollen filter at the intervalsgiven in the Service Booklet.NoteIf the windscreen mists up during dampweather, temporarily set the system asdescribed under "Demisting and defrostingthe windows" – pages 163, 166 or 174.Cooling 3 is most efficient when thewindows are closed. If the interior isextremely hot due to a long period instrong sunlight, briefly open the windowsand sun roof 3 to allow the hot air toescape quickly. When cooling 3 (air conditioningcompressor) is switched on condensationforms, which is expelled from the undersideof the vehicle. At least one air vent must be open whilecooling 3 (air conditioning compressor) ison in order to prevent the evaporator fromicing up due to lack of air movement.Cooling switches off automatically at lowoutside temperatures.Do not cover the sensor on the instrumentpanel as this could cause the climatecontrol 3 system to malfunction.MaintenanceIn order to ensure continuously efficientperformance, the air conditioningcompressor 3 must be operated for a fewminutes once a month, irrespective of theweather and time of year. The climatecontrol system, if present, handles thisautomatically while driving. Airconditioning compressor operation is notpossible when outside temperatures arelow. If a fault occurs, consult a workshop. Werecommend your Vauxhall AuthorisedRepairer.
