70 Keys, doors, bonnetOpen&Start system 3The Open&Start system allows the vehicleto be locked and unlocked, including theanti-theft locking system 3 and theVauxhall alarm system 3, and the engineto be started and stopped without amechanical key. All the driver has to do iskeep the key on his person.Depending on the equipment level of thevehicle 3 , the windows of vehicles withelectric windows in all doors 3 can beopened or closed from outside using theremote control of the electronic key- page 79.On the Astra TwinTop, the roof can also beopened or closed with the remote control 3of the electronic key.The electronic key must be within theexternal reception range about 1 metrefrom the vehicle in order to lock and unlockthe vehicle.If the electronic key is recognized as"authorised," the vehicle can be unlockedby pulling a door handle or the knobbeneath the tailgate handle and the doorsand the tailgate can be opened.When the Start/Stop button is pressed, thesystem re-checks the authorisation. Theelectronic key has to be recognised in theinterior in order to do this. After the key hasbeen authorised the ignition switches on.At the same time, the electronicimmobiliser is switched off and the electro-mechanical steering column lock isdeactivated. Pressing the Start/Stop buttonagain with the brake or clutch pedaldepressed or in P or N with automatictransmission 3 starts the engine. Press thebutton for at least one second with thevehicle stationary or hold until the enginestarts.
