BA 1001/1501/2001 us – Edition 3.3 * 12001b510.fm 5-1Maintenance5 Maintenance5.1 IntroductionOperational readiness and the service life of machines are heavily dependent on maintenance.It is therefore in the interest of the machine owner to perform the mandatory maintenance.Before performing servicing and maintenance, always read, understand and follow theinstructions given in:• Chapter 2 “SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS” of this Operator’s ManualPerform the prescribed inspections and rectify any disorders before putting the machineinto operation.Secure open (engine) covers appropriately. Do not open (engine) covers on slopes or instrong wind.Dirt can be blown away and cause severe injury when using compressed air. Always wearsafety glasses, protective masks and clothing.Daily servicing and maintenance, and maintenance according to maintenance plan “A”must be performed by a specifically trained operator. All other maintenance must be per-formed by trained and qualified personnel only.The maintenance plans indicate when the maintenance mentioned below must be per-formed – see Maintenance plan 2001 (overview) on page 5-39.
