Operation G 5040 wc_tx001049gb.fm4.9 Engine shutdown faultsThe Engine Control Module (ECM) continuously monitors vital enginefunctions for seven fault conditions. When a fault condition occurs, theengine will shut down and the LCD panel will display the fault causingthe shutdown. To reset the ECM and resume operation, return theengine start switch manually to off “O”. Also refer to Section WarningLight.4.9.1 EMERGENCY STOPIndicates that the emergency stop button has been depressed. Thisdisplay will remain on until the emergency stop button is pulled backout.4.9.2 LOW OIL PRESSUREIndicates that the engine oil pressure dropped below 1 bar (15 psi) andthe ECM has shut the engine down.4.9.3 HIGH ENGINE TEMPERATUREIndicates that the engine coolant temperature has exceeded 115°C(239°F) and the ECM has automatically shut down the engine. Normalengine running temperature is 85°C±8°C (185°F±15°F ).4.9.4 OVERSPEEDIndicates that the engine speed exceeded approximately 1980 rpm(110% of its rated speed of 1800 rpm) and the ECM has automaticallyshut the engine down.4.9.5 OVERCRANKAn overcrank fault is displayed when the engine fails to start after threecycles of the normal cranking cycle, and the ECM has automaticallyshut down the generator due to the overcrank condition.4.9.6 LOW FUELA low fuel fault condition will be displayed when the fuel tank drops to5% and the ECM has shut down the engine. This fault conditionprevents the fuel lines from running completely dry and avoids theneed to bleed the lines when the tank is refilled. The low fuel fault can be disabled if desired. See Changing/DisablingLow Fuel Fault.4.9.7 UNDERSPEEDIndicates that the engine speed dropped below 55Hz (1650 rpm) formore than 15 seconds and the ECM has automatically shut down theengine.
