Sound Parameters – Modulation MatrixWaldorf Q User’s Manual 114Fadeout 64…in 63Controls the speed with which the LFO is faded in or out. With this parameter you can create slowlyrising or falling modulations that might create interesting when routed to pitch or volume.w Please see the LFO Delay parameter for further information.ClockedOff / OnWhen Clocked is activated, the LFO is synced to the global Tempo of the Q. The LFO Speed settingis changed to offer musically meaningful values.w Please read the section “The Tempo” for further information.Phasefree, 000°…357°Controls the initial phase of the LFO when a new note is started.Free means that the LFO isn’trestarted on a new note but runs freely while other values set the LFO phase to the respective offset indegrees.Modulation MatrixA modulation can be described as influencing a sound parameter by a signal-generating unit. Theterms used in this context are "source" and "destination". The Q offers 16 independent modulationassignments (slots) each with individual settings of source, destination and amount. The ModulationMatrix is the key of the power of each Waldorf synthesizer, so start experimenting with itright now.Basically, the Modulation Matrix is split in two kinds:Fast Modulation Matrix (M1F…M8F)These slots feature a high internal update rate, intended to be used for modulations that require to becalculated very fast.Standard Modulation Matrix (M1S…M8S)These slots are calculated at normal speed, that is still fast enough for the most modulation purposes,e.g. when dealing with the modulation wheel or velocity. The Standard Modulation Matrix slots offeran extended set of modulation sources and destinations compared to the Fast Modulation Matrix.w For deep information about the modulation speed and tables of the various available sourcesand destinations, read the chapter “Modulation Speed Levels”.Matrix Edit MenuAll parameters related to the Modulation Matrix are located in the Matrix Edit Menu.
