50Maintenance Instructions LUBRICATIONMower Deck Spindle LubricationLubricate each deck spindle grease fitting every 25hours. Use SAE general purpose lithium or molybdenum base grease for grease fittings.DR52, DS60 or DR64 Mower Deck LubricationLubricate the UJoint in the PTO drive shaft every 25hours with SAE general purpose lithium or molybdenum base grease.Check Transaxle Fluid Level● The transaxle oil lubrication is SAE 20W50 (APIService Class SL or higher) engine oil.● Inspect both transaxle cases and hoses afterevery 25 hours of operation for visible leaks.● The fluid level of the transaxles can be checkedvisually by looking at the fluid level in the expansion reservoir. When the transaxles are cold, thefluid level in the expansion reservoir should bebetween 1/4 and 1/2 in. (0.64 cm and 1.27 cm).Hot LevelCold LevelHose toTransaxlesReservoir CapExpansion Reservoir LocationTransaxle Oil and Filter ChangeChange the transaxle oil after the initial break-inperiod of 75-100 hours. Thereafter, change oil ev-ery 400 hours of operation as follows:1. Thoroughly clean the exterior of the transaxlehousing before servicing. Remove expansionreservoir cap to allow venting. Using a 1/4 in.hex wrench, remove the plug on the lower inside of each transaxle allowing the oil to drain.2. Remove the oil filter guard, remove and replacethe oil filter using an oil filter wrench. Tightenfilter by turning filter 3/4 to 1 turn after gasketcontacts the filter base surface. Reinstall the oilfilter guard. Reinstall drain plugs.4. Remove the oil reservoir hose attached to theelbow on top of the transaxles. Remove theelbows to access the oil fill opening.5. Fill the transaxles with 20W50 (API ServiceClass SL or higher) oil through the opening(where the elbows were). Fill up to the opening.6. Before reinstalling the elbows, screw the locking nut on the elbows down until they are snug(the oring on the elbow will be to the bottom ofthe oring groove).
