Maintenance Instructions REPLACING/REPAIRING68Deck Drive Belt1. To remove the deck drive belt:a. Remove deck footrest and two (2) coversover the RH and LH blade spindles.b. Loosen belt tensioner stop bolt and turn inward until retracted 1 in. (2.5 cm) from theoperating position.c. Lock drive pulley so that it can not rotate.* If deck is installed on tractor, the PTOblade brake will prevent the drive pulleyfrom rotating.* If deck is detached from tractor, use prybar or large screwdriver positionedthrough the drive shaft Ujoint to holdshaft and prevent rotation.d. From a position on the LH side of the deck,grasp belt midsection and pull to compressthe belt tensioner springs and move thetensioning pulley inward. The belt will thenslip off the LH spindle pulley and can becompletely removed.2. Install the deck drive belt by reversing the removal procedure:a. Route the belt as shown on the belt routingdecal (located on the deck housing). Leavethe belt loose at the LH spindle and theninstall the belt by compressing the belt tensioner as noted above.b. After the belt is in place, reset the belt tensioner stop bolt by turning outward untilcontacting the pulley bracket and thenmaking one (1) additional turn.c.
