Participant Guide Xerox 6204 Wide Format Solution60Document TypeAfter determining the media type, the next step in achieving goodoutput quality is to identify what kind of document you are scanning. The Xerox 6204 Wide Format Solution provides the followingOriginal Type selections; these appear below.Text/Line This option is best when using an originalthat contains primarily text and lines.Text/Line(clear)Select this mode to make copies oftransparent (clear) originals. This option issuitable for film and vellum originals, wherethe background color is water-clear, white, bluish, or brown.Text/Photo This option works well for originals thatcontain both text and photos.Photo(halftone)Select this option when documents containa grayscale or halftone color image, suchas a printed graphic.Photo(contone)Select this mode when documents containa continuous tone black and white or colorimage, such as a photograph.Provided below are suggestions for copying other types ofdocuments.Blueline Blueline documents are usually blue lineson a white, opaque background. Bluelinesare often mistakenly referred to asblueprints. Bluelines, however, are just theopposite of blueprints.Blueprint Blueprint documents are white lines andtext on a dark blue background.Adjustments may have to be made usingthe Background Suppression and CopyDensity features. You also can use theInvert Image feature for better output.Negatives Negatives are similar to blueprints, exceptthe white lines are on a black backgroundin a negative, rather than a bluebackground as in a blueprint. Because anegative is similar to a blueprint, thesetting that you should select is identical.Using the Invert Image feature willconserve toner. If an exact copy of anoriginal is not required, or if the job hasmany blueprints or negatives, Invert Imageshould be used.Adjustments may have to made using theBackground Suppression and Contrastfeatures.
