P R I N T E R M A I N T E N A N C E 7–5What To Look ForThere are basically three things to look for in examining the test print.1. The Color Density and the Black Density are a matter of taste. The30% halftones can be used to judge the current level and decide on apreference.2. The Color Density and Black Density should be at approximatelythe same level. This is important in order to make the Color Balanceadjustment.3. The correct Color Balance is determined by comparing the circle inthe center of the Color Balance object marked “CURRENT” with thegray background. The background is produced using black only andthe circles are produced using a combination of cyan, magenta, andyellow. The objective is for the “CURRENT” circle to be the closestgray when compared to the background of any of the circles in theobject, i.e., the most neutral.
