73Using the APRS set-up menuSmart beaconing settingThe SmartBeaconing™ function continually transmits beacons with your own stationposition information, movement speed and direction of advance. using data derivedfrom a GPS antenna unit.SMART (SmartBeaconing) can be selected using the “AUTO” setting under [10 APRS]→ [14 BEACON TX] in the set-up menu when STATUS is set to TYPE 1 - TYPE 3.1 Press for one second or longer.The set-up menu will be displayed.2 Turn the DIAL, select [10 APRS], then press .The menu list will be displayed.3 Turn the DIAL, select [23 SmartBeaconing],and press .The screen for setting SmartBeaconing will bedisplayed.4 Turn the DIAL and select [1 STATUS].5 Press and select the SmartBeaconingoperating method.Press to switch between the options in thefollowing order.“OFF”, “TYPE 1”, “TYPE 2”, “TYPE 3”OFF: SmartBeaconing™ is not active.TYPE 1/TYPE 2/TYPE 3:SmartBeaconing™ is active.Three different types of setting (TYPE 1 - TYPE 3) can be selected foroperation.Normally, TYPE 1 (where all the parameters remain in their initial values) isrecommended.When testing operations at a different timing, TYPE 2 and TYPE 3 settingscan be adjusted and selected to use the parameters differently for differentpurposes depending on the situation.
