If the problem you are experiencing is not listedbelow or if the instruction below does not help, set this unit in the standby mode, disconnect the power cord, and contactthe nearest authorized YAMAHA dealer or service center. GeneralProblemThis unit fails to turnon when STANDBY/ON (or SYSTEMPOWER) is pressed,or enters in thestandby mode soonafter the power hasbeen turned on.On-screen displaydoes not appear.No sound and/or nopicture.The picture does notappear.CauseThe power cord is not connected or theplug is not completely inserted.The IMPEDANCE SELECTOR switchon the rear panel is not fully set to theupper or lower position.The protection circuitry has beenactivated.This unit has been exposed to a strongexternal electric shock (such as lightningand strong static electricity)The setting for the on-screen display isset to “DISPLAY OFF”.The BLUE BACK setting under “13DISPLAY SET” on the SET MENU isset to OFF, and no video signal is inputto this unit.Incorrect input or output cableconnections.An appropriate input source has not beenselected.The speaker connections are not secure.The main speakers to be used have notbeen selected properly.The volume is turned down.The sound is muted.Digital signals other than PCM audio,Dolby Digital or DTS signal which thisunit cannot reproduce are being input tothis unit by playing a CD-ROM, etc.The output and input for the picture areconnected to different types of videojacks.RemedyFirmly connect the power cord.Set the switch fully to the upper or lower positionwhen this unit is in the standby mode.Make sure all speaker wire connections on this unitand on all speakers are secure and that the wire foreach connection does not touch anything other thanits respective connection.Set this unit in the standby mode, disconnect thepower cord, plug it back in after 30 seconds, andstart operating.Select the full display or short display mode.Set BLUE BACK to AUTO to always show theOSD.Connect the cables properly. If the problem persists,the cables may be defective.Select an appropriate input source with INPUT l /h or 6CH INPUT (or the input selector buttons).Secure the connections.Select the main speakers with SPEAKERS A and/orB.Turn up the volume.Press MUTE or any operation buttons of this unit tocancel a mute and adjust the volume.Play a source whose signals this unit can reproduce.Make connections using the same type of jack(between S VIDEO, VIDEO (composite), orCOMPONENT VIDEO jacks) for both the input andoutput.Referto page1913—19206011, 122411, 12242525—14, 15
