Remove:• Fitting bolt “1”• Washer “2”• Air filter element “3”• Air filter guide “4”NOTICEECA14401Never operate the engine without the air filterelement installed. Unfiltered air will causerapid wear of engine parts and may damagethe engine. Operating the engine without theair filter element will also affect carburetorsynchronization, leading to poor engine per-formance and possible overheating.3. Wash:• Air filter elementa. After washing the element with air filtercleaner or kerosene, squeeze and dry itcompletely.WARNINGEWA19110Do not use gasoline or organic (acid/alka-line) volatile oil for washing.NOTICEECA24280Do not twist the element when squeezing theelement.4. Check:• Air filter elementDamage  Replace.5. Apply:Yamaha foam air filter oil or other qualityfoam air filter oil.a. Put the air filter element into a plastic bagand drip the filter oil into the bag.b. With the element inside the bag, rub itthoroughly so that the element is evenlypermeated with the oil.c. Wrap the element in a clean cloth, rub theelement gently, and wipe off any excessoil.TIP• The element should be permeated with oil sothat it is wet but not dripping.• When replacing the element, permeate the el-ement in oil by using the same procedure aswhen cleaning.6.
