15OPERATING THE CUTTING BLADESThe cutting blades may be engaged while the lawntractor is moving or standing still. DO NOT engagethe cutting blades abruptly as the sudden belttension on the pulley may cause the engine to stall.WARNING: Keep feet and hands awayfrom the discharge opening, the blades orany part of the deck. When the unit isused for anything other than mowingoperations, the blade drive should bedisengaged.Move the lift lever into the BLADES STOP positionto raise the deck and disengage the blades.GRASS COLLECTOR AVAILABLEGrass Collector Model 190-063-000 is available asoptional equipment for lawn tractors with 38" and42" decks. Grass Collector Model 190-103-000 isavailable for lawn tractors with 46" decks.WARNING: The mower should not beoperated without the entire grass catcheror chute deflector in place.NOTE:Under normal usage bag material issubject to wear, and should be checked periodically.Be sure to use only factory authorized replacementbag.SECTION 8: ADJUSTMENTSWARNING: Disconnect the spark plugwires and ground against the enginebefore performing any adjustments,repairs or maintenance.MANUAL ADJUSTMENT SEATTo adjust the position of the seat, loosen the fourscrews on the bottom of the seat. See Figure 4.Slide the seat forward or backward as desired.Retighten the four screws.QUICK ADJUSTMENT SEATTo adjust the position of the seat, move the seatadjustment lever (located under the seat) to the leftand slide the seat forward or backwards. See Figure15. Make sure seat is locked into one of the sixadjustment positions before operating the lawntractor.Figure 15CARBURETOR ADJUSTMENTSWARNING: If any adjustments aremade to the engine while the engine isrunning (e.g. carburetor), disengage allclutches and blades. Keep clear of allmoving parts. Be careful of heatedsurfaces and muffler.Minor carburetor adjustments may be requiredto compensate for differences in fuel,temperature, altitude and load. Refer to separateengine manual for carburetor adjustmentinformation.NOTE:A dirty air cleaner will cause an engine torun rough.
