Setting Up Your System123Deploying Phones from the Provisioning ServerDuring auto provisioning, IP phones download the boot file first, and then download theconfiguration files referenced in the boot file in sequence. The parameters in the newdownloaded configuration files will override the duplicate parameters in files downloadedearlier. For more information on boot files and configuration files, refer to Boot Files on page114 and Configuration Files on page 116.Before you configure parameters in the configuration files, Yealink recommends that you createnew configuration files containing only those parameters that require changes. To deploy IP phones from the provisioning server:1. Create per-phone boot files by performing the following steps:a) Obtain a list of phone MAC addresses (the bar code label on the back of the IP phoneor on the outside of the box).b) Create per-phone .boot files by using the template boot file.c) Specify the configuration files paths in the file as desired.2. Edit the common boot file by performing the following step:a) Specify the configuration files paths in the file as desired.3. Create per-phone configuration files by performing the following steps:a) Create per-phone .cfg files by using the MAC-Oriented CFG file from thedistribution as templates.b) Edit the parameters in the file as desired.4. Create new common configuration files by performing the following steps:a) Create .cfg files by using the Common CFG file from the distributionas templates.b) Edit the parameters in the file as desired.5. Copy boot files and configuration files to the home directory of the provisioning server.6. Reboot IP phones to trigger the auto provisioning process.IP phones discover the provisioning server address, and then download the boot files andconfiguration files from the provisioning server. For protecting against unauthorized access, you can encrypt configuration files. For moreinformation on encrypting configuration files, refer to Encrypting and Decrypting Files on page712.NoteDuring the auto provisioning process, the IP phone supports the following methods to discoverDuring auto provisioning, the IP phone tries to download the MAC-Oriented boot file first. If nomatched MAC-Oriented boot file is found on the server, the IP phone tries to download thecommon boot file. If the MAC-Oriented boot file and common boot file exist simultaneously onthe provisioning server, the common boot file will be ignored after the IP phone successfullydownloads the matched MAC-Oriented boot file.
