Administrator’s Guide for Yealink VC800 Video Conferencing System46802.1X AuthenticationIEEE 802.1X authentication is an IEEE standard for Port-based Network Access Control (PNAC),part of the IEEE 802.1 group of networking protocols. It offers an authentication mechanism fordevices to connect to a LAN or WLAN. The 802.1X authentication involves three parties: asupplicant, an authenticator and an authentication server. The supplicant is the system thatwishes to attach to the LAN or WLAN. With 802.1X port-based authentication, the systemprovides credentials, such as user name and default password, for the authenticator. Theauthenticator then forwards the credentials to the authentication server for verification. If theauthentication server determines the credentials are valid, the system is allowed to accessresources located on the protected side of the network. The system supports the authentication protocols EAP-MD5, EAP-TLS, PEAP-MSCHAPv2 andEAP-TTLS/EAP-MSCHAPv2 for 802.1X authentication. For more information on 802.1X authentication, refer toYealink 802.1X Authentication.802.1X feature parameters on the system are described below:Parameter Description Configuration Method802.1x ModeSpecifies the 802.1x authenticationmode.
