362242-YIM-B-010910 Johnson Controls Unitary ProductsTHERMOSTATThe room thermostat should be located on an insidewall approximately 56 inches above the floor where itwill not be subject to drafts, sun exposure or heat fromelectrical fixtures or appliances. Follow the manufac-turer's instructions enclosed with the thermostat forgeneral installation procedure. A minimum of sevencolor-coded insulated wires (#18 AWG) should be usedto connect the thermostat to the unit.POWER AND CONTROL WIRINGField wiring to the unit must conform to provisions of theNational Electrical Code, ANSI / NFPA No. 70 (inU.S.A.), current Canadian Electrical Code C22.1 (inCanada) and/or local ordinances. The unit must be elec-trically grounded in accordance with NEC and CEC (asspecified above) and/or local codes. Voltage tolerances, which must be maintained at the compressor terminals, during starting and running conditions, are indicated onthe unit Rating Plate and the Unit Application Data table. The internal wiring harness furnished with this unit is anintegral part of a CSA design certified unit. Field alterationto comply with electrical codes should not be required.A fused disconnect switch should be field provided forthe unit. The switch must be separate from all other cir-cuits. Wire entry at knockout openings require conduitfittings to comply with NEC (in U.S.A.), CEC (in Can-ada) and/or local codes. If any of the wire supplied withthe unit must be replaced, replacement wire must be ofthe type shown on the wiring diagram and the sameminimum gauge as the replaced wire.Use copper conductors properly sized to carry the load. Each unit must be wired with a separate branch circuitfed directly from the meter panel and properly fused.Refer to the Typical Field Wiring Figure 3 and to theappropriate unit wiring diagram for control circuit andpower wiring information.OPTIONS/ACCESSORIESELECTRIC HEATThe factory- or field-installed heaters are wired for sin-gle point power supply. Power supply need only bebrought into the single point terminal block and thermo-stat wiring to the low voltage terminal strip located inthe upper portion of the unit control box. These CSA approved heaters are located within thecentral compartment of the unit with the heater ele-ments extending into the supply air chamber. Refer toFigure 7 for access panel location.Fuses are supplied, where required, by the factory. Some KW sizes require fuses and others do not. Referto Table 3 for minimum CFM limitations and to Tables 6208/230-3-60 and 380/415-3-50 units control tran-formers are factory wired for 230v and 415v powersupply respectively. Change tap on transformer for208-3-60 or 380-3-50 operation.See unit wiring diagram. When connecting electrical power and control wir-ing to the unit, waterproof type connectors MUSTBE USED so that water or moisture cannot bedrawn into the unit during normal operation. Theabove waterproofing conditions will also applywhen installing a field-supplied disconnect switch.TABLE 2: CONTROL WIRE SIZESWire Size Maximum Length 11.
