7Before using the applianceRating plateThis is situated on the lower front frame ofthe appliance and can be seen uponopening the door. Alternatively the ratingplate may also be found on the back or topof some models (where applicable).The appliance must be protected by asuitably rated fuse or circuit breaker. Therating of the appliance is given on the ratingplate.Do not remove the rating plate from theappliance as this may invalidate theguarantee.Preparing to use yourapplianceWipe over the base of the oven(s) with a softcloth and hot soapy water and wash thefurniture before use. We suggest that yourun the oven(s) and grill for 10 – 15 minutesat maximum temperature, to burn off anyresidue from their surfaces. Accessible partsmay become hotter than in normal use.Children should be kept away. During thisperiod an odour may be emitted, it istherefore advisable to open a window forventilation.Control panel indicatorneon(s)The indicator neon will operate when the grill(where applicable) or oven(s) is switched on.The indicator neon will glow. It may turn onand off during use to show that the setting isbeing maintained. If the neon does notoperate as the instructions indicate thecontrols have been incorrectly set. Returnall controls to zero and reset following theinstructions for the required setting.The cooling fan for thecontrolsThe cooling fan comes on immediately whenthe grill or second oven is switched on andafter a short time when the main oven is inuse. It runs on after the controls areswitched off until the appliance has cooled.During the initial period the cooling fan mayturn on and off, this is quite normal.Always allow the cooling fan tocool the appliance down beforeswitching off at the wall prior tocarrying out any cleaning ormaintenance work.Condensation and steamWhen food is heated it produces steamsimilar to a boiling kettle. The vents allowsome of this steam to escape.However, always stand back from theappliance when opening the door(s) to allowany build up of steam or heat to release.If the steam comes into contact with a coolsurface on the outside of the appliance, e.g.a trim, it will condense and produce waterdroplets. This is quite normal and is notcaused by a fault on the appliance.To prevent discolouration, regularly wipeaway condensation and also soilage fromsurfaces.For your safety wall coverings at the rear ofthe appliance should be securely fixed to thewall.CookwareBaking trays, dishes etc., should not beplaced directly against the grid covering thefan at the back of the oven.Do not use baking trays larger than 30cm x35cm (12” x 14”) as they will restrict thecirculation of heat and may affectperformance.
