This operation will improve the per-formance of the appliance and save electricityconsumption.Take care of not to damage the coolingsystem. When moving the cabinet, liftit by the front edge to avoid scratchingthe floor.Defrosting the freezerCAUTION! Never use sharp metal toolsto scrape off frost from the evapora-tor as you could damage it. Do not usea mechanical device or any artificialmeans to speed up the thawing processother than those recommended by themanufacturer. A temperature rise of thefrozen food packs, during defrosting,may shorten their safe storage life.About 12 hours prior to defrosting, seta lower temperature, in order to build upsufficient chill reserve for the interruptionin operation.A certain amount of frost will always formon the freezer shelves and around the topcompartment.Defrost the freezer when the frost layerreaches a thickness of about 3-5 mm.To remove the frost, follow the instructionsbelow:1. Switch off the appliance, or pull out elec-trical plug from the wall socket.2. Remove any stored food, wrap it in sev-eral layers of newspaper and put it in acool place.WARNING! Do not touch frozen goodswith wet hands. Hands can freeze to thegoods.3. Leave the door open and remove thefreezing shelf. It is possible to scrape offand remove smaller frost and ice with aplastic scraper. Sweep off melting waterand it can be removed if an adequatelyhigh tray is put in front of the applianceand the defrost water will flow into it.In order to speed up the defrostingprocess, place a pot of warm water inthe freezer compartment. In addition,remove pieces of ice that break awaybefore defrosting is complete.4. When defrosting is completed, dry theinterior thoroughly and keep the scraperfor future use.5. Switch on the appliance.6. Turn the Temperature Regulator to the FullLoaded position and leave to run for atleast 4 hours.7. Reload the previously removed food intothe compartments.8. Adjust the Temperature Regulator accord-ing to the quantity of the stored foods.Periods of non-operationWhen the appliance is not in use for longperiods, take the following precautions:1. Disconnect the appliance from electricitysupply.2. Remove all food.3. Defrost (if necessary) and clean the appli-ance and all accessories.4. Leave the door/doors open to preventunpleasant smells.WARNING!
