7 SUPPLEMENTARY VOICE CALLSERVICESSupplementary VoiceServicesThe ISDN LAN Modem supports the following supplementary voice services.n Call Waiting and Call Holdn Calling Line Identification Restriction (CLIR)n Malicious Call Identification (MCID)Before You Begin In order to use these services, they must also be supported on your ISDN line. Callyour telephone company if you want to have these services added.Call Waiting and CallHoldCall Waiting allows you to place an active call on hold in order to answer anincoming call. By default, Call Waiting is enabled on both ports. You can changethis configuration by entering the appropriate commands listed in Table 5 using atelephone connected to one of the phone ports.Once Call Waiting is turned on, it remains on until it is turned off.Call HoldCall Hold, as a service in conjunction with Call Waiting (not as a separate service),allows you to interrupt a call in order to receive a second incoming call. When CallHold is on, communication on a B channel is interrupted and the B channel isreleased for the incoming call. The Call Hold function does not, however, allowyou to put a call on hold and make a second outgoing call; it only allows for asecond incoming call.How to Use Call WaitingTo use Call Waiting do the following.1 When you hear the Call Waiting tone, press and release the switch hook button toput the first call on hold and connect to the second call.2 To put the second call on hold and switch back to the first call, press and releasethe switch hook button.Table 5 Configuring Call WaitingPress these telephone keys To do this*43# Enable Call Waiting for the phone port to which thehandset is connected.#43# Disable Call Waiting for the port to which thehandset is connected.*#43# Check if Call Waiting is enabled or disabled.
