Maintenance 109CapacitorsThe drive intermediate circuit employs several electrolytic capacitors. Their lifespandepends on the operating time of the drive, loading and ambient temperature. The lifespanof the capacitor can be prolonged by lowering the ambient temperature. It is not possible to predict a capacitor failure. The capacitor failure is usually followed bydamage to the unit and an input cable fuse failure, or a fault trip. Contact ABB if a capacitorfailure is suspected. Replacements are available from ABB. Do not use other than ABBspecified spare parts. Reforming the capacitorsIf the drive module has been stored for a year or more, reform the capacitors. See page 34for information on finding out the manufacturing date. For the reforming instructions, seeConverter modules with electrolytic DC capacitors in the DC link, capacitor reforminginstructions (3BFE64059629 [English]).76
