B 156 InstallationSafety instructionsCAUTIONRisk of injury due to incorrect parameter values!Incorrect parameter values can cause the valve to moveunexpectedly. This can lead to process failures and result ininjuries.• Before recommissioning a positioner that was previouslyin use at another location, always reset the device to itsfactory settings.• Never start automatic adjustment before restoring thefactory settings!NoteBefore assembly, check whether the positioner meets thecontrol and safety requirements for the installation location(actuator or final control element).Refer to the Specification in the data sheet.Only qualified specialists who have been trained for these tasksare authorized to mount and adjust the unit, and to make theelectrical connection.When carrying out any work on the device, always observe thelocal accident prevention regulations and the regulationsconcerning the construction of technical installations.External position sensorsM10904AB1 2 36 5 41 2 76 5 41 TZIDC Control Unit2 Connection cable3 TZIDC Remote Sensor4 Actuator5 Compressed air supply6 Set point signal7 Remote position sensorFigure 4: TZIDC with external position sensorsNoteIf the device is being operated on a cylinder, for reasonsassociated with linearity you should run automatic adjustmentfor rotary actuators (refer to Standard automatic adjustmentfor rotary actuators on page 31).AA TZIDC Control Unit with TZIDC Remote Sensor*In this version, the components are supplied in two housings,which together form one harmonized unit.The following points should be observed during installation:• Housing 1 (TZIDC Control Unit) contains the electronicsand pneumatics and is mounted separately from theactuator.• Housing 2 (TZIDC Remote Sensor) contains the positionsensor and is mounted on the linear and rotary actuator.Perform mechanical mounting as described in Mechanicalmounting on page 16.• The electrical connection is performed as described inConnection on device – TZIDC Control Unit for remoteposition sensor on page 28.NoteTo connect the TZIDC Remote Sensor, a cable with the followingspecifications needs to be used:• 3-wire, cross-section 0.5 to 1.0 mm²• shielded, with at least 85 % coverage• Temperature range up to at least 100 °C (212 °F)The cable glands must also be approved for a temperature rangeup to at least 100 °C (212 °F). The cable glands require amounting for the shielding and strain relief for the cable inaddition.ABB optionally offers a cable gland and cable for theTZIDC Remote Version.* The TZIDC Remote Version is temporarily not available for the marineversion.B TZIDC Control Unit for remote position sensorIn this version the positioner is supplied without a positionsensor.The following points should be observed during installation:• Housing 1 (TZIDC Control Unit) contains the electronicsand pneumatics and is mounted separately from theactuator.• The remote position sensor is mounted on the linear androtary actuator.
