9AXIS 213 - Installing the AXIS 213Installing on a NetworkThe AXIS 213 is designed for installation on an Ethernet network. This involvesassigning it an IP address, either manually or via an automated network service(DHCP). Select one of the following procedures depending on your network:Notes:• The AXIS 213 has a default IP address - 192.168.0.90• DHCP is enabled by default• The installation description is also available in German, French, Spanish and Italian in theAXIS 213 Installation GuideAXIS Media Control (AMC)AXIS Media Control (AMC) - an ActiveX component required for Microsoft InternetExplorer which is installed automatically on first use.AMC must be installed for audio support and for viewing live images in MicrosoftInternet Explorer. If your working environment restricts additional softwarecomponents, you can configure your AXIS 213 to use a Java applet for updating theimages (applies to video images, not audio). See the online help files under Live ViewConfig > Layout > Default Viewer for Internet Explorer. Or use another supportedWeb browser. Once AMC is installed, the AMC viewer toolbar will display the audiocontrols and additional video controls.Important!Available procedures:Manual Installation using AXIS IP Utility (Windows) on page 10Manual Installation using ARP and Ping in Windows on page 12AXIS Internet Dynamic DNS Service on page 13• The camera employs MPEG-4 compression, which is technology licensed by the MPEG Consortium. One viewer licenseis included with the product. The installation of more than 1 instance of the viewer requires you to purchase furtherlicenses. Please contact your Axis reseller.• To allow the installation of the AXIS Media Control on your workstation, you must have administrator privileges. Yourbrowser must also be set to allow the installation of signed ActiveX controls. This is the default setting in InternetExplorer.
