Azure™ cSeries User ManualPage 103.2 B Band Excision and Light Safety SwitchThe light safety interlock switch is located on the front edge of the system and is visible when the dooris open. Normally, if UV light is being used, the cabinet automatically shuts off the UV light source whenthe door is opened. The BAND EXCISION button was created to override the safety switch for situations when auser needs to cut bands out of their UV excitable gel.Care must be taken to avoid eye and skin exposure to the UV radiation.WARNING: ALWAYS WEAR APPROPRIATE PROTECTION WHEN EXPOSED TO UV LIGHT. Theuse of protective eyeglasses, mask, and/or gloves is strongly recommended. After selecting the Band Excision button, the user will be prompted to pull out the override safetyinterlocked switched, pictured here:Once the user pulls out the switch, and selects OK from the screen prompt, the light will remain on for5 minutes, or until the band excision switch is pressed again. Capturing an image, or selecting anotherlight source will also turn the light off.3.3 Chemiluminescent Applications (c300 systems and above)SENSITIVITY – Changing the sensitivitysettings changes both the sensitivityand the resolution of the cameraand image. At the Lowest sensitivitysetting, you will be taking a fullresolution image with the camera. And the Highest sensitivity setting, theresulting image will be 0.3 MP image. The resolution is displayed next to thesensitivity settings.CUMULATIVE – Selecting Cumulative will tell the software to take up to 10 images at thetime interval you selected for exposure times. For example: if you set an exposure timeof 1 minute, it will display 10 images, every 1 minute. The first image displayed will be a 1minute exposure. The second image displayed, at the 2 minute interval, will be a sum ofthe first two images. The finally, tenth image, will be the sum of 10, 1 minute images. Youcan view the images in the gallery tab while the next image is being acquired.MARKER – When taking a single channel image, if marker is selected, after capturing achemi image, the system will take a white light image of the blot. The resulting imagedisplayed in the gallery tab will show the chemi blot in the green channel, and thewhite light image in the red channel. This will allow you to overlay your signal over theimage of your blot. Note: Marker feature works optimally when taken on the bottom, UVtransilluminator shelf position. For all blots, use the blot tray which is stored in the door. The blot tray provides a dark background toimprove the contrast on the blot image.
