SEWING THE STITCHES128c Check that the needle drops at the desiredposition and lower the presser foot, makingsure the upper thread passes underneaththe buttonhole foot.d Lower the buttonhole lever so that it ispositioned behind the metal bracket on thebuttonhole foot.a Buttonhole levera Metal brackete Gently hold the end of the upper thread,and then press the “Start/Stop” button tostart the machine. Once sewing is completed, the machineautomatically sews reinforcement stitches, and thenstops.Note• Pass the thread underneath the presserfoot.• Set the presser foot so that there is no gapbehind the section marked with an “A” (theshaded area in the illustration below). Ifthere is a gap, the size of the darning will notbe correct.Memo• If automatic thread cutting is turned onbefore you start sewing, both threads areautomatically cut after the reinforcementstitches are sewn. If the fabric does not feed(for example, because it is too thick),increase the stitch length setting.
