The belt is a double-sided round-tooth belt.Tools required: 5 mm handle hex tool and 13 mm open end wrenchCheck: With the machine front cover removed. Checkthe belt tension for tautness by pressing it with yourindex finger. Press the vertical center of the belt withlight pressure. The belt should deflect about ½”. Properbelt tension provides for some belt flexibility under lightfinger pressure, but should not be so tight as to bindthe machineDouble-check the tension by rotating and rockingthe hand wheel. Confirm that there is no backlashor play between the belt teeth and any of the drivencomponents. Confirm, also, that there is an ImmediateTransfer of Motion between the handwheel andthe hook. IMPORTANT: Do not over-tighten the belt as thiswill make the machine difficult to turn and maycause other undesirable issues, including morebelt noiseIf a correction is necessary:• Insert a 5 mm handle Allen tool into the fixing screwin the center of the tensioner, and loosen it until youcan turn the outside of the tensioner with the 13 mmopen end wrench.• Turn the tensioner with the 13 mm wrench clockwiseto tighten or slightly counter clockwise to loosen thebelt tension3. Tighten the center fixing screw with the 5 mm handlehex tool firmly. IMPORTANT: Do not tighten the belt by turningthe 13mm wrench counter clockwise as thiswill pinch the belt in the small area betweenthe tensioner pulley and the motor pulley. Onlytighten the belt by turning the 13mm wrenchclockwise.
