MODEL 300 COMBUSTION ANALYZERInstruction 24-9223 3-33.1 PERFORMING AN EFFICIENCY TESTThis procedure describes how to initially calibrate the Model 300 Com-bustion Analyzer and perform a combustion efficiency test. Each time the combustion analyzer is turned on, its microprocessorbegins its initial start-up routine. This routine directs the operator tocalibrate the analyzer and select the proper fuel. After performing an efficiency test, the analyzer can be recalibrated and/or a different fuel can be selected for the next test. Refer to Sections 3.6and 3.7.1. Turn on the analyzer by either plugging it in, or by setting its batterypack switch to ON.WARNING!Use only UL or CSA approved grounded extension cords. Use ofother cords may bring about a hazardous condition and voidsthe instrument’s warranty. Ungrounded extension cords maycause erratic display indications.2. During initial power up, all front panel, and Optional auxiliary paneldisplays and LED indicators are checked by being turned on forapproximately 5 seconds; after which, the left display switches to showCAL, the Optional clock displays the correct time, and the Optionalauxiliary displays go dark. Also at this time, the pump is turned onand continues to run until the analyzer is calibrated.3. Place probe into center of furnace’s primary air inlet (Section 3.2). Ifthe furnace is drawing in ambient room air, you can sample room airfor the purpose of determining the primary air temperature.NOTE: During calibration, you can measure inlet air tempera-ture by selecting TEMP on the left display.
