MODEL 300 COMBUSTION ANALYZER3-6 Instruction 24-92233.2 GAS SAMPLING POINTSThe Model 300 Combustion Analyzer requires a 3 /8 " (9.5 mm) minimumdiameter sampling hole to accommodate the analyzer’s probe-stop.Locate the sampling point downstream from the last heat exchanger, andupstream from any source of dilution.Important: As the distance betweenthe heat exchanger and the samplingpoint increases, the calculated combus-tion efficiency will falsely increase dueto heat loss in the flue or stack. For residential and light commercialcombustion equipment applications, thefollowing recommendations are applicable:• Oil Burners – Locate sampling hole atleast 12" downstream from the furnacebreeching, and at least 6" upstream fromthe furnace side of the draft regulator.• Gas Burners – Locate sampling hole atleast 6" upstream from the furnace sideof the draft diverter on gas conversionunits. For gas-designed equipment, theprobe may be inserted down into the fluethrough the draft diverter or hood.3.3 INSTALLING THE PROBEScrew probe stop into gas-sampling hole (Fig. 3-3); then insert probethrough hole in probe stop.Push probe into stack to desired depth; then tighten probe-stop-thumbscrew to lock probe in place.Figure 3-2.Sample PointDRAFTDIVERTER/REGULATORSAMPLEPOINTFURNACEBREECHINGFLUEGASFLOW(Upstream)(Downstream)
