Section 1General Information3-44 Receiving & Installation MN722External Trip Input To activate the External Trip input, the External Trip parameter in the programmingProtection Block must be set to “ON”.Terminal J1-16 is available for connection to a normally closed thermostat or overloadrelay in all operating modes as shown in Figure 3-23. The thermostat or overload relayshould be a dry contact type with no power available from the contact. If the motorthermostat or overload relay activates the control will automatically shut down and givean External Trip fault.Connect the External Trip Input wires to J1-16 and J1-17. Do not place these wires in thesame conduit as the motor power leads.Figure 3-23 Motor Temperature RelayT1 T2 T3T1T2 T3 G* MotorM M M1617J1External TripExternal or remote motoroverload protection maybe required by NationalElectrical Code or equivalentDo not run these wires insame conduit as motorleads or AC power wiring.Customer ProvidedSource VoltageMotor Thermostat LeadsCR1** Optional hardware. Must be ordered separately.Note: Add appropriately ratedprotective device for AC relay(snubber) or DC relay (diode).Opto-Isolated Inputs The equivalent circuit for the nine Opto inputs is shown in Figure 3-24. The function ofeach input depends on the operating mode selected. Refer to the operating modeconnection diagrams shown previously in this section.Figure 3-24 Opto-Input Equivalent Circuit (Using Internal Supply)910111213141516Opto Input 2Opto Input 3Opto Input 4Opto Input 5Opto Input 6Opto Input 7J1Terminal Tightening Torque = 7 Lb-in (0.8 Nm).Opto Input 8Opto Input 93940+24VDC @ 200mA(supply terminal 39).Jumper terminals 39 to 40(Factory Installed)6.8K 6.8K 6.8K 6.8K 6.8K 6.8K 6.8K 6.8K17Opto Input Common8Opto Input 16.8K
