1-12IntroductionSmartSTACK 10 ELS10-26 TrunkingThe SmartSTACK 10 ELS10-26 allows two trunk groups with up toeight ports each to be connected between the SmartSTACK 10ELS10-26 and other devices in the FastNetwork and SmartSTACKfamilies. This capability provides a scalable dedicated bandwidthof up to 160 Mbps for 10 Mbps ports and 400 Mbps for 100 Mbpsports.For example, local traffic, such as the Manufacturing Department’sinternal traffic, can be easily handled by a single, 10 Mbpsconnection. However, when the Manufacturing Department needsaccess to the corporate database, the traffic could travel over atrunk line, thereby increasing the speed of transmission.Figure 1-4 illustrates the trunking of multiple SmartSTACK 10ELS10-26 ports to increase the bandwidth.Figure 1-4.
