INSTALLATIONPage 3-1CHAPTER 3INSTALLATIONThis chapter outlines the procedure for installing the SEHI to yournetwork as a stackable or stand-alone device. Ensure that yournetwork meets the guidelines and requirements outlined in Chapter 2,Installation Requirements/Specifications, before installing theSEHI.3.1 UNPACKING THE SEHIUnpack the SEHI as follows:1. Remove the shipping material covering the SEHI in the shippingbox.2. Carefully remove the SEHI from the shipping box and set it asideto prevent damage.3. Visually inspect the SEHI. If there are any signs of damage,contact Cabletron Systems Technical Support immediately.4. Read the SEHI Release Notes included in the shipping box.Note: Cabletron Systems includes a 3-1/2" disk with the SEHI. Thisdisk contains a backup copy of the SEHI’s Flash Firmware Image File.You can download the backup image file to the SEHI if the existingimage becomes corrupted.3.2 INSTALLING THE SEHIYou can install the SEHI to your network as a stackable orstand-alone hub. If you want to install the SEHI on a wall or a 19-inchrack, Cabletron Systems offers an accessory kit that includes RackMount Brackets, Wall Mount Brackets, Mounting Screws, and a StrainRelief Bracket. The accessory kit is not included with the SEHI, butyou can purchase it separately from Cabletron Systems as PartNumber SEHI-ACCY-KIT.
