1-12IntroductionWith address mirroring, a unicast MAC address and a destination portare specified. Any time a valid packet is received on any port with thatdestination MAC address within the switch, that packet will bemonitored to the destination port. If the address form of the mirrorcommand is issued multiple times, all unicast MAC addresses selectedwill be mirrored. Up to 4 MAC addresses may be mirrored at any one time. When mirroring is turned off, the previous parameters are stillmaintained in non-volatile memory and available if mirroring isre-enabled. The setting of port mirroring clears any address mirroringparameters or vice-versa.Note: Address entries will be flagged so that they do not get aged out of thedatabase. We will however allow the port on which they are learned tochange.1.5.5 SmartSTACK Ethernet ELS10-27 SampleApplicationsJust as a six lane highway allows you to travel much faster than a singlelane highway, a network backbone creates high-speed connections foryour network. In general, a network backbone allows you to distributeaccess to important network resources such as file or print servers.Additional SmartSTACK Ethernet ELS10-27 features, such as trunking,Fast Ethernet, and virtual workgroups allow you to optimize bandwidthand design a more efficient flow for your network traffic.SmartSTACK Ethernet ELS10-27 TrunkingSmartSTACK Ethernet ELS10-27 supports one form of port trunking,StackTRUNK Trunking.SmartSTACK Ethernet ELS10-27 supports a single trunk group of up to 3trunked ports. The group can be composed of only the 10/100 Mbpsports. Trunked ports have the following characteristics:• Learned unicast traffic destined to one of the trunked ports shall bedistributed evenly between all ports in the trunk group using the samealgorithm as the LynxSwitch product.• Unknown addresses and broadcast/multicast traffic shall beforwarded only to a single port within the trunk group according to thetrunking algorithm.
