Configuring Your SmartSTACK Ethernet ELS10-273-193.16.2 Community NamesThe set community name variable (from the Cabletron proprietary MIB),must be initialized with the correct community name passwords. All requests from any SNMP manager contain a community name field. For set requests, the community name must match the set password;otherwise, the request will be rejected by the SmartSTACK EthernetELS10-27. For get requests, the community name must match either theset or the get community name.Set Community NameThe set community name variable (els10-27adminAnyPass) and getcommunity name variable (els10-27adminGetPass) must be set to thevalue of the community name used by the SNMP manager forperforming either set or get operations. A zero length community namemeans that any community name is acceptable.els10-27adminAnyPass - {els10-27admin 2}DisplayString (SIZE (0..24))els10-27adminGetPass - {els10-27admin 2}DisplayString (SIZE (0..24))3.16.3 Aging ParameterDynamic (learned) addresses are automatically deleted from theSmartSTACK Ethernet ELS10-27 Bridge Address Table after a certainlength of time. The aging time default is five minutes, as set by the IEEE802.1d standard. However, you can change the aging parameter with theMIB variable dot1dTpAgingTime.The SmartSTACK Ethernet ELS10-27 continually compares the actual ageof each dynamic address against the age specified by thedot1dTpAgingTime parameter, and deletes any addresses that are olderthan the age specified (or older than five minutes if you are using thedefault). Typically, there is no need to set the aging time to a very smallnumber because the SmartSTACK Ethernet ELS10-27 Bridge AddressTable supports 979 addresses.
