User and Programming Manual - Rev P California InstrumentsThe power source has two voltage ranges that are controlled by a relay. The command thatcontrols the range is:VOLTage:RANGe 136 | 272When the range is set to (136), the maximum rms voltage that can be programmed is 136volts rms, but it is only on this range that the maximum output current rating is available. The VRANGe command is coupled with the CURRent command. This means that themaximum current limit that can be programmed at a given time depends on the voltagerange setting in which the unit is presently operating.FrequencyThe output frequency is controlled with the FREQuency command. To set the outputfrequency to 50 Hz, use:FREQuency 50Current LimitTo set the rms current limit use:CURRent where is the rms current limit in amperes. If the load attempts to draw more current than the programmed limit, The AC source isprogrammed to turn off its output if the rms current limit is reached.Note: The CURRent command is coupled with the VOLTage:RANGe. This meansthat the maximum current limit that can be programmed at a given timedepends on the voltage range setting in which the unit is presentlyoperating.15.3. Making MeasurementsThe source has the capability to return current and voltage measurements.Voltage and Current MeasurementsTo measure the rms voltage or current, use:MEASure:VOLTage?orMEASure:CURRent?October 2005 RP Series70
