Ink Cartridge GuidelinesTo ensure excellent print quality, always follow these guidelines.Be sure to install all four ink cartridges. Attempting to print without one or more ink cartridges inplace causes the ERROR and INK lights to come on and the printer does not operate.Always install the ink cartridges in the correct slots. If you install an ink cartridge in the wrong slot,the color inks may mix with each other in the printer and the new ink cartridges may be spoiled. Ifyou install an ink cartridge in the wrong slot, see Ink cartridges incorrectly installed on the nextpage.Do not remove an ink cartridge until it is empty or six months after opening, whichever comes first.Do not attempt to move the mechanism that houses the print head unit and ink cartridges.Each ink cartridge has a sponge portion, and the top of the sponge is always white. Thisis normal and does not indicate a partially full cartridge.The ink inside the cartridges appear much darker than the color that prints on a sheet ofpaper.To avoid spilling ink, follow these precautions:Do not attempt to disassemble or refill an ink cartridge.Do not vigorously shake an ink cartridge while handling it.Do not stick anything into the opening of the ink cartridge.Do not unpack an ink cartridge until you are ready to install it.Do not remove an ink cartridge unless you need to replace it.Keep the ink cartridges out of children's reach.Maintaining the Printer 1341 of 1 4/15/98 1:56 PM
