Installation Location and Handling 1-7Before You Start Using This Machine1Handling Precautions■ Do not attempt to disassemble or modifythe machine.■ Be careful not to spill liquids or drop anyforeign objects, such as paper clips orstaples inside the machine. If a foreignobject comes into contact with electricalparts inside the machine, it may cause ashort circuit and result in a fire orelectrical shock.■ If there is smoke or unusual noise,immediately turn the main power switchOFF, disconnect the power cord from thepower outlet, and then contact your localauthorized Canon dealer. Using themachine in this state may cause a fire orelectrical shock. Also, avoid placingobjects around the power plug so that themachine can be disconnected whenevernecessary.■ Do not turn the main power switch OFF or open the covers while themachine is in operation. This may result in paper jams.■ Some parts inside the machine are subject to high-voltages andtemperatures. Take adequate precautions when inspecting the inside of themachine. Do not carry out any inspections not described in the manuals.
