PressStart/Copy on your FAX and hang up tobegin receiving the document.• If you are using the telephone and it islocated away from your unit, dial 25 (thedefault remote receiving ID) on yourtelephone and hang up.4 Start your conversation. If the caller wants tosend a fax after talking to you, ask them topress the start button on their fax machine.5 When you hear a beep, press Start/Copy onyour FAX and hang up to begin receiving thedocument.• If you are using the telephone and it islocated away from your unit, dial 25 (thedefault remote receiving ID) on yourtelephone and hang up.Note• If using the handset, be sure to hang up after you press Start/Copy on the FAX,otherwise the call will be disconnected.• The FAX will alert you by beeping if the handset is not hung up properly. Make surethe handset is seated properly in its cradle. If you do not want the FAX to beep, disablethe OFFHOOK ALARM setting (1 p. 14-4).• If you cannot activate reception from the telephone, check that the REMOTE RX settingis enabled (1 p. 14-7).• You can change the remote receiving ID (1 REMOTE RX ID, p. 14-7), or disableremote receiving (1 REMOTE RX, p. 14-7).• If you have an answering machine connected to your FAX that can carry out remote-control operations (controlling your answering machine from a remote telephone), thesecurity code for this function may be the same as the remote receiving ID of yourFAX. If this is the case, make sure you change the FAX’s remote receiving ID to makeit distinct from the answering machine’s security code (1 REMOTE RX ID, p. 14-7).
