72-A Setting up for use over LANThis section describes how to set up the machine to be used over wired LAN, when the machine hasnot been connected to the network. This setup procedure requires settings to be performed on themachine and the computer.1 On the Setup Method screen, select Set upthe printer and the computer for networkuse, then click Next.2 When the Printer Connection screenappears, connect the machine to thecomputer with a USB cable, then turn on themachine.When the machine is turned on, the Power lamplights up blue. When the computer detects themachine, the next screen will appear automatically.When using Windows 2000:When you connect the machine to the computerwith a USB cable, a message asking for yourconfirmation to restart your computer is displayed.Click Yes. Then when an error message isdisplayed, click OK to proceed with the installation.3 When the Setup Preparations dialog boxappears, confirm that preparation iscomplete, then click Next.NoteIf you select Use the printer via USB, the machine isset up to be used with USB connection.Notez To set up the machine that is not yet connected to aLAN, connect the machine and the computer with aUSB cable.z If you cannot go to the next procedure after 3minutes, refer to “Cannot Install the MP Drivers” in“Troubleshooting” in the User’s Guide on-screenmanual.NoteIf the machine’s network settings are alreadyconfigured, the Setup Environment Confirmationdialog box appears asking for your confirmation to usethe machine with the current settings. You canproceed with the setup using the current networksettings. To do so, click Use it as is. To reconfigure thenetwork settings, click Reconfigure.
