Users in the U.S.A.• Pre-Installation Requirements for MX700Order InformationWhen ordering service from the telephone company for this equipment, the following may berequired.Universal Service Order Code (USOC): RJ11CThe Facility Interface Code (FIC): 02LS2Service Order Code (SOC): 9.OF• Connection of the EquipmentThis equipment complies with Part 68 of the FCC rules and the requirements adopted by the ACTA.On the bottom of this equipment is a label that contains, among other information, a product identifierin the format US:AAAEQ##TXXXX. If requested, this number must be provided to the telephonecompany.The REN is used to determine the number of devices that may be connected to a telephone line.Excessive RENs on a telephone line may result in the devices not ringing in response to an incomingcall. In most but not all areas, the sum of RENs should not exceed five (5.0). To be certain of thenumber of devices that may be connected to a line, as determined by the total RENs, contact thelocal telephone company. The REN for this product is part of the product identifier that has the formatUS:AAAEQ##TXXXX. The digits represented by ## are the REN without a decimal point (e.g., 03 isa REN of 0.3).A plug and jack used to connect this equipment to the premises wiring and telephone network mustcomply with the applicable FCC Part 68 rules and requirements adopted by the ACTA. A complianttelephone cord and modular plug is provided with this product. It is designed to be connected to acompatible modular jack that is also compliant. See installation instructions for details.Connection to party lines is subjected to state tariffs. Contact the state public utility commission,public service commission or corporation commission for information.If your home has specially wired alarm equipment connected to the telephone line, ensure theinstallation of this equipment does not disable your alarm equipment. If you have questions aboutwhat will disable alarm equipment, consult your telephone company or a qualified installer.• In Case of Equipment MalfunctionShould any malfunction occur which cannot be corrected by the procedures described in this guide,disconnect the equipment from the telephone line cable, turn off the power and disconnect the powercord. The telephone line cable should not be reconnected or the main power switch turned ON untilthe problem is completely resolved. Users should contact their local authorized Canon FacsimileService Dealer for the servicing of equipment.Information regarding Authorized Service Facility locations can be obtained by calling the CanonCustomer Center.• Rights of the Telephone CompanyIf this equipment causes harm to the telephone network, the telephone company may temporarilydisconnect service. The telephone company also retains the right to make changes in facilities andservices that may affect the operation of this equipment. When such changes are necessary, thetelephone company is required to give adequate prior notice to the user. However, if advance noticeis not possible, the telephone company will notify the customer as soon as possible.
