Installation and operation manual8 RXYQQ8~20T7Y1BVRV IV System Air Conditioner4P345099-1 – 2013.04 The refrigerant R410A itself is nontoxic, non-flammable and issafe. If the refrigerant should leak however, its concentrationmay exceed the allowable limit depending on room size. Due tothis, it could be necessary to take measures against leakage.Refer to "18. Caution for refrigerant leaks" on page 47. Do not install in the following locations:- Locations where sulphurous acids and other corrosive gasesmay be present in the atmosphere. Copper piping andsoldered joints may corrode, causing refrigerant to leak.- Locations where a mineral oil mist, spray or vapour may bepresent in the atmosphere. Plastic parts may deteriorate andfall off or cause water leakage.- Locations where equipment that produces electromagneticwaves is found. The electromagnetic waves may cause thecontrol system to malfunction, preventing normal operation.- Locations where flammable gases may leak, where thinner, gasoline and other volatile substances are handled, or wherecarbon dust and other incendiary substances are found in theatmosphere. Leaked gas may accumulate around the unit, causing an explosion. When installing, take strong winds, typhoons or earthquakes intoaccount, improper installation may result in the unit turning over.6.2. Weather related precautions Select a place where the rain can be avoided as much aspossible. Be sure that the air inlet of the unit is not positioned towards themain wind direction. Frontal wind will disturb the operation of theunit. If necessary, use a screen to block the wind. Ensure that water cannot cause any damage to the location byadding water drains to the foundation and prevent water traps inthe construction. Do not install the unit in areas where the air contains high levelsof salt such as that near the ocean.6.3. Selecting a location in cold climatesTo prevent exposure to wind and snow, install a baffle plate on the airside of the outdoor unit:1 Baffle plateIn heavy snowfall areas it is very important to select an installationsite where the snow will not affect the unit. If lateral snowfall ispossible, make sure that the heat exchanger coil is not affected bythe snow (if necessary construct a lateral canopy). Install the unithigh enough from the ground to prevent burying in snow.1 Construct a large canopy.2 Construct a pedestal.NOTICEWhen operating the unit in a low outdoor ambienttemperature, be sure to follow the instructions describedbelow.NOTICEWhen operating the unit in a low outdoor ambienttemperature with high humidity conditions, make sure totake precautions to keep the drainholes of the unit free byusing proper equipment.
