Energy saving and optimum operationThis VRV IV replacement heat pump system is equipped withadvanced energy saving functionality. Depending on the priority,emphasises can be put on energy saving or comfort level. Severalparameters can be selected, resulting in the optimal balance betweenenergy consumption and comfort for the particular application.Several patterns are available and explained below. Modify theparameters to the needs of your building and to realize the bestbalance between energy consumption and comfort.15.3.1. Three main operation methods are available: BasicThe refrigerant temperature is fixed independent from thesituation. It corresponds to the standard operation which isknown and can be expected from/under previous VRV systems: To activate this operation method under cooling operation:change field setting [2-8]=2. To activate this operation method under heating operation:change field setting [2-9]=6. AutomaticThe refrigerant temperature is set depending on the outdoorambient conditions. As such adjusting the refrigeranttemperature to match the required load (which is also related tothe outdoor ambient conditions).E.g., when your system is operating in cooling, you do not needas much cooling under low outdoor ambient temperatures (e.g.,25°C) as under high outdoor ambient temperatures (e.g., 35°C).Using this idea, the system automatically starts increasing itsrefrigerant temperature, automatically reducing the deliveredcapacity and increasing the system's efficiency. To activate this operation method under cooling operation:change field setting [2-8]=0 (default).E.g., when your system is operating in heating, you do not needas much heating under high outdoor ambient temperatures (e.g.,15°C) as under low outdoor ambient temperatures (e.g., –5°C).Using this idea, the system automatically starts decreasing itsrefrigerant temperature, automatically reducing the deliveredcapacity and increasing the system's efficiency. To activate this operation method under heating operation:change field setting [2-9]=0 (default). Hi-sensible/economic (cooling/heating)The refrigerant temperature is set higher/lower (cooling/heating)compared to basic operation. The focus under high sensiblemode is comfort feeling for the customer.The selection method of indoor units is important and has to beconsidered as the available capacity is not the same as underbasic operation. For details concerning to Hi-sensibleapplications, please contact your dealer. To activate this setting under cooling operation: change fieldsetting [2-8] to the appropriate value, matching therequirements of the pre-designed system containing a highsensible solution. To activate this setting under heating operation: change fieldsetting [2-9] to the appropriate value, matching therequirements of the pre-designed system containing a highsensible solution.15.3.2. Several comfort settings are availableFor each of above modes a comfort level can be selected. Thecomfort level is related to the timing and the effort (energyconsumption) which is put in achieving a certain room temperature bytemporarily changing the refrigerant temperature to different values inorder to achieve requested conditions more quickly. PowerfulOvershoot (during heating operation) or undershoot (duringcooling operation) is allowed compared to the requestedrefrigerant temperature, in order to achieve the required roomtemperature very fast. The overshoot is allowed from the start upmoment.In case of cooling operation the evaporating temperature isallowed to go down to 3°C on temporary base depending on thesituation.In case of heating operation the condense temperature isallowed to go up to 49°C on temporary base depending on thesituation.When the request from the indoor units becomes moremoderate, the system will eventually go to the steady statecondition which is defined by the operation method above. To activate the powerful comfort setting under coolingoperation, change field setting [2-81]=3.This setting is used in conjunction with setting [2-8]. To activate the powerful comfort setting under heatingoperation, change field setting [2-82]=3.This setting is used in conjunction with setting [2-9].[2-82]= Heating comfort setting.Default value=1Change [2-82]=0, 1, 2 or 3 in function of requiredlimitation.This setting is used in conjunction with setting [2-9].For more information and advice about the impact ofthese settings, see "15.3.
