Installation and operation manual28 RXYQQ8~20T7Y1BVRV IV System Air Conditioner4P345099-1 – 2013.047 Earth wire (GRN/YLW)8 Clamp the power supply to the plastic bracket using a fieldsupplied clamp to prevent external force being applied tothe terminal.9 Clamp (field supplied)10 Cup washer11 When connecting the earth wire, it is recommended toperform curling.Connecting the power supply to multiple outdoor unitsTo connect the power supply for multiple outdoor units to each other, ring tongues have to be used. No bare cable can be used. The ring washer which is standard provided should be removed inthat case.Attaching both cables to the power supply terminal should be done asindicated.13. Making field settingsTo continue the configuration of the VRV IV replacement heat pumpsystem, it is required to give some input to the logic board of the unit. This chapter will describe how manual input is possible by operatingthe push buttons/DIP switches on the logic board and reading thefeedback from the 7 segment displays. For VRV IV replacement heat pump system it is alternatively possibleto make several commissioning field settings through a personalcomputer interface (for this, option EKPCCAB* is required). Theinstaller can prepare the configuration (off-site) on PC and afterwardsupload the configuration to the system. How to connect the cable isdescribed in "13.3. Connecting the PC configurator to the outdoorunit" on page 30.The contents of the actual settings is discussed and explained in"15.2. Monitoring function and field settings" on page 37.13.1. Accessing the push buttons on the logic boardIt is not required to open the complete electronic component box toaccess the push buttons on the logic board and read out the 7segment display(s).To access you can remove the front inspection cover of the front plate(see figure). Now you can open the inspection cover of the electricalcomponent box front plate (see figure). You can see the three pushbuttons and the three 7 segment displays and DIP switches.1 Service cover2 Main PCB with 3 seven segment display and 3 pushbuttons3 Electrical component box service coverOperate the switches and push buttons with an insulated stick (suchas a closed ball-point pen) to avoid touching of live parts.Make sure to re-attach the inspection cover into the electroniccomponent box cover and to close the front plate's inspection coverafter the job is finished. During operation of the unit the front plate ofthe unit should be attached. Settings are still possible to be madethrough the inspection opening.INFORMATIONInstallation and routing in case the cool/heat selector isused: refer to installation manual of the cool/heat selector.NOTICE When routing earth wires, secure clearance of 25 mmor more away from compressor lead wires. Failure toobserve this instruction properly may adversely affectcorrect operation of other units connected to the sameearth. When connecting the power supply, the earthconnection must be made before the current-carryingconnections are established. When disconnecting thepower supply, the current-carrying connections mustbe separated before the earth connection is. Thelength of the conductors between the power supplystress relief and the terminal block itself must be assuch that the current-carrying wires are tautenedbefore the earth wire is in case the power supply ispulled loose from the stress relief.NOTICEPrecautions when laying power wiring: Do not connect wiring of different thicknesses to thepower terminal block (slack in the power wiring maycause abnormal heat). When connecting wiring which is the same thickness,do as shown in the figure below. For wiring, use the designated power wire andconnect firmly, then secure to prevent outsidepressure being exerted on the terminal board. Use an appropriate screwdriver for tightening theterminal screws. A screwdriver with a small head willdamage the head and make proper tighteningimpossible. Over-tightening the terminal screws may break them. See the table below for tightening torque for theterminal screws.Tightening torque (N•m)M8 (Power terminal block) 5.5~7.3M8 (Ground)M3 (Inter-unit wiring terminal block) 0.8~0.97NOTICERecommendations when connecting the earth wireWire it so that it comes through the cut out section of thecup washer.
