Caution for Refrigerant Leaks SiE33-00388 General Information5. Caution for Refrigerant Leaks5.1 Caution for Refrigerant Leaks5.1.1 Introduction(Points to note in connection with refrigerant leaks)The VRV System, like other air conditioning systems, uses R-407C as refrigerant. R-407C itself is anentirely safe non-toxic, non-combustible refrigerant. Nevertheless care must be taken to ensure that airconditioning facilities are installed in a room which is sufficiently large. This assures that the maximumconcentration level of refrigerant gas is not exceeded, in the unlikely event of major leak in the system andthis in accordance to the local applicable regulations and standards.5.1.2 Maximum Concentration LevelThe maximum charge of refrigerant and the calculation of the maximum concentration of refrigerant isdirectly related to the humanly occupied space in to which it could leak. The unit of measurement of the concentration is kg/m³ ( the weight in kg of the refrigerant gas in 1m³volume of the occupied space).Compliance to the local applicable regulations and standards for the maximum allowable concentrationlevel is required. In Japan the maximum allowed concentration level of refrigerant to a humanly space for R-407C is limitedto 0.3 kg/m³1.
