7.1.2 Hardware Set-upUse the terminator dip switch on the main control boardof the adjustable frequency drive to terminate the RS-485bus.1 2S801ON130BA272.11Figure 7.3 Terminator Switch Factory SettingThe factory setting for the dip switch is OFF.7.1.3 Parameter Settings for ModbusCommunicationThe following parameters apply to the RS-485 interface (FCport):Parameter Function8-30 Protocol Select the application protocol to run onthe RS-485 interface8-31 Address Set the node address. Note: The addressrange depends on the protocol selected in8-30 Protocol8-32 Baud Rate Set the baud rate. Note: The default baudrate depends on the protocol selected in8-30 Protocol8-33 Parity / StopBitsSet the parity and number of stop bits.Note: The default selection depends on theprotocol selected in 8-30 Protocol8-35 MinimumResponse DelaySpecify a minimum delay time betweenreceiving a request and transmitting aresponse. This can be used for overcomingmodem turnaround delays8-36 MaximumResponse DelaySpecify a maximum delay time betweentransmitting a request and receiving aresponse8-37 MaximumInter-Char DelaySpecify a maximum delay time betweentwo received bytes to ensure timeout iftransmission is interrupted.Table 7.2 RS-485 Parameters7.1.4 EMC PrecautionsThe following EMC precautions are recommended in orderto achieve interference-free operation of the RS-485network.Observe relevant national and local regulations regardingprotective ground connection. Keep the RS-485 communi-cation cable away from motor and brake resistor cables toavoid coupling of high frequency noise from one cable toanother. Normally a distance of 200 mm (8 inches) issufficient, but it is best to keep the greatest possibledistance between the cables, especially where cables runin parallel over long distances. When crossing isunavoidable, the RS-485 cable must cross motor and brakeresistor cables at a 90° angle.Serial com. bus cableBrake resistorMin. 200mm90° crossing130BA080.10Figure 7.4 Crossing CablesInstallation and Set-up Design Guide182 Danfoss A/S © Rev. 2014-01-13 All rights reserved.
