2.8.3 PM/EC+ Motor ControlThe Danfoss EC+ concept provides the possibility for usinghigh efficiency PM motors in IEC standard frame sizeoperated by Danfoss adjustable frequency drives. The commissioning procedure is comparable to theexisting one for asynchronous (induction) motors byutilizing the Danfoss VVCplus PM control strategy.Customer advantages:• Option of motor technology (permanent magnetor induction motor)• Installation and operation as on induction motors• Manufacturer independent when choosing systemcomponents such as motors• Best system efficiency by choosing bestcomponents• Possible retrofit of existing installations• High power range: 1.5–1875 hp [1.1–1400 kW] forinduction motors and 1.5–30 hp [1.1–22 kW] forPM motorsCurrent limitations:• Currently only supported up to 30 hp [22 kW]• Currently limited to non-salient type PM motors• LC filters not supported with PM motors• Overvoltage control algorithm is not supportedwith PM motors• Kinetic backup algorithm is not supported withPM motors• AMA algorithm is not supported with PM motors• No missing motor phase detection• No stall detection• No ETR function2.8.4 Local (Hand On) and Remote (AutoOn) ControlThe adjustable frequency drive can be operated manuallyvia the local control panel (LCP) or remotely via analog/digital inputs or serial bus.It is possible to start and stop the adjustable frequencydrive by LCP using the [Hand On] and [Off] keys if allowedin the following parameters:• 0-40 [Hand on] Key on LCP• 0-41 [Off] Key on LCP• 0-42 [Auto on] Key on LCP• 0-43 [Reset] Key on LCPAlarms can be reset via the [Reset] key. After pressing[Hand On], the adjustable frequency drive goes into Handmode and follows (as default) the local reference set bypressing [▲] and [▼].After pressing [Auto On], the adjustable frequency drivegoes into Auto mode and follows (as default) the remotereference. In this mode, it is possible to control theadjustable frequency drive via the digital inputs andvarious serial interfaces (RS-485, USB, or an optional serialcommunication bus).
