SR200 & SR300 Card Printers and LM200 & LM200 Laminators Installation Guide 59Setting the Unit Number, Printer Name, andConnectionIf you install more than one SR200 or SR300 printer on a PC, each printer must have a differentunit number and a different printer name. Each unit number and printer name must correspondto each other. For example, if unit number is 3 the printer name must be PRINTER03.If you install a printer over the network, the default interface must be set to Network. If youinstall the printer using a USB cable, the default interface must be set to USB.Tips for Success For best results, plan printer deployment and numbering. Install the printer to which you willassign the highest number first. Then install the next lower number, ending with the printernamed PRINTER01 and having unit number 1. If more than printer is to be installed on the PC, set the unit number and printer name beforeinstalling the printer. When installing the printer using a USB connection, select the port name to correspond tothe unit number and printer name. For example, if the printer name is PRINTER03 and theunit number is 3, select port SR U3. If a network‐connected printer will be installed on several PCs, each PC must use the unitnumber and printer name assigned in the printer. If the printer was previously used as a network printer and you want to use a USB connection,the default interface must be set back to USB.1. Install printer supplies. Refer to “Using the Printer and Laminator” in the User’s Guide toinstall ink ribbon and retransfer film cartridges.2. Install the Status Monitor from the Installation CD. Refer to“Installing the Status Monitor” on page 55. Close theinstallation windows.3. With the Installation CD in the PC drive, connect the printerand PC using a USB cable. Do not click the Install the Printerbutton.4. Power on the printer. The PC detects the USB hub, and displaysa Found New Hardware wizard. Follow the prompts to installthe hub software. The PC posts an identifier, such as SR‐CPU1.Record this identifier to use in step 7.
