3.1 Shut-down proceduresIn the event of emergency, shut down theappliance by switching off power at themain panel, by means of a breaker or powerdisconnect or by removing the plug from thepower socket.3.2 Operating tipsBefore starting up the appliance, clean theinside of the compartment thoroughly.3.2.1 Pre-coolingBefore using the appliance for the first time,or after a prolonged period of disuse, precoolthe compartment by running an empty cycleuntil the set operating temperature has beenreached.To ensure optimal performance without anyalteration to food quality: arrange food productsin such a way as to favour the circulation of coldair throughout the compartment; open the dooras little as possible.3.2.2 Loading the appliancea) Ensure that foods to be chilled and/or frozenare separate and do not have a thickness greaterthan 2’’/50mm-3’’/80mm. Do not load theappliance beyond the quantity recommendedby the manufacturer.b) Ensure that there is sufficient clearancebetween trays to enable free air circulation. Ifthe appliance is not completely full, distributethe trays and foods evenly throughout theavailable space.c) Position trays inside the tray compartment asfar as they will go, as close as possible to theevaporator.d) Position the core probe at the centre of thelargest product or food item; make sure that thetip of the probe does not protrude or touch thetray. The probe must be cleaned and sanitisedbefore each new cycle (operation) to preventinadvertent contamination.e) Avoid covering the trays and/or containers withinsulating covers or film. The more the productis insulated, the more time is required forchilling or freezing. Trays should be packagedwhen the product has been chilled, beforebeing placed in storage.3.
