Appendix 115This limited warranty does not cover any items that are in one or more ofthe following categories: software; external devices (except as specificallynoted); accessories or parts added to a Dell system after the system isshipped from Dell; accessories or parts added to a Dell system throughDell's system integration department; accessories or parts that are notinstalled in the Dell factory; or Dell Software and Peripherals products.Monitors, keyboards, and mice that are Dell-branded or that are includedon Dell's standard price list are covered under this warranty; all othermonitors, keyboards, and mice (including those sold through the DellSoftware and Peripherals program) are not covered. Batteries for portablecomputers are covered only during the initial one-year period of this limitedwarranty.Limited Warranty Coverage During Year OneDuring the one-year period beginning on the invoice date, Dell will repair orreplace products covered under this limited warranty that are returned toDell's facility. To request warranty service, you must contact Dell’sCustomer Technical Support within the warranty period. See "ContactingDell" on page 92 to find the appropriate contact information for obtainingcustomer assistance. If warranty service is required, Dell will issue a ReturnMaterial Authorization Number. You must ship the products back to Dell intheir original or equivalent packaging, prepay shipping charges, and insurethe shipment or accept the risk of loss or damage during shipment. Dell willship the repaired or replacement products to you freight prepaid if you usean address in the continental U.S., where applicable. Shipments to otherlocations will be made freight collect.NOTE: Before you ship theproduct(s) to Dell, back up thedata on the hard drive(s) andany other storage device(s) inthe product(s). Remove anyremovable media, such asfloppy disks, CDs, or PC Cards.Dell does not accept liability forlost data or software.Dell owns all parts removed from repaired products. Dell uses new andreconditioned parts made by various manufacturers in performing warrantyrepairs and building replacement products. If Dell repairs or replaces aproduct, its warranty term is not extended.
