When you disable fast-convergence, origination and arrival LSA parameters are setto 5 seconds and 1 second, respectively.Setting the convergence parameter (1-4) indicates the actual convergence level. Each convergence settingadjusts the LSA parameters to zero, but the fast-convergence parameter setting allows for even finer tuningof the convergence speed. The higher the number, the faster the convergence. To enable or disable fast-convergence, use the following command in ROUTER OSPF mode.Command Syntax Command Mode Usagefast-convergence {number} CONFIG-ROUTER-OSPF-id Enable OSPF fast-convergence and specify theconvergence level.Parameter: 1-4The higher the number, the faster the convergence. When disabled, the parameter is set at 0 (Figure 20-15).Note: A higher convergence level can result in occasional loss of OSPFadjacency. Generally, convergence level 1 meets most convergencerequirements. Higher convergence levels should only be selected followingconsultation with Dell Force10 technical support.FTOS#show ip ospf 34 intTenGigabitEthernet 0/0 is up, line protocol is downInternet Address 10.1.2.100/24, Area 1.1.1.1Process ID 34, Router ID 10.1.2.100, Network Type BROADCAST, Cost: 10Transmit Delay is 1 sec, State DOWN, Priority 1Designated Router (ID) 10.1.2.100, Interface address 0.0.0.0Backup Designated Router (ID) 0.0.0.0, Interface address 0.0.0.0Timer intervals configured, Hello 10, Dead 40, Wait 40, Retransmit 5Hello due in 13:39:46Neighbor Count is 0, Adjacent neighbor count is 0TenGigabitEthernet 0/1 is up, line protocol is downInternet Address 10.1.3.100/24, Area 2.2.2.2Process ID 34, Router ID 10.1.2.100, Network Type BROADCAST, Cost: 10Transmit Delay is 1 sec, State DR, Priority 1Designated Router (ID) 10.1.2.100, Interface address 10.1.3.100Backup Designated Router (ID) 0.0.0.0, Interface address 0.0.0.0Timer intervals configured, Hello 10, Dead 40, Wait 40, Retransmit 5No Hellos (Passive interface)Neighbor Count is 0, Adjacent neighbor count is 0Loopback 45 is up, line protocol is upInternet Address 10.1.1.23/24, Area 2.2.2.2Process ID 34, Router ID 10.1.2.100, Network Type LOOPBACK, Cost: 1Loopback interface is treated as a stub Host.FTOS#Interface is not running theOSPF protocol.
