176 Troubleshooting Your SystemTroubleshooting a Storage ControllerNOTE: When troubleshooting a SAS or PERC controller, also see thedocumentation for your operating system and the controller.1 Run the appropriate online diagnostic test. See "Using Online Diagnostics"on page 181.2 Enter the System Setup program and ensure that the SAS or PERCcontroller is enabled. See "Using the System Setup Program and UEFIBoot Manager" on page 59.3 Restart the system and press the applicable key sequence to enter theconfiguration utility program:• for a SAS controller• for PERC controllerSee the controller's documentation for information about configurationsettings.4 Check the configuration settings, make any necessary corrections, andrestart the system.CAUTION: Many repairs may only be done by a certified service technician. Youshould only perform troubleshooting and simple repairs as authorized in yourproduct documentation, or as directed by the online or telephone service andsupport team. Read and follow the safety instructions that came with theproduct.5 Turn off the system and attached peripherals, and disconnect the systemfrom its electrical outlet.6 Open the system. See "Opening the System" on page 84.7 Ensure that the controller card is firmly seated into the system boardconnector. See "Integrated Storage Controller Card" on page 125.8 If you have a battery-cached PERC controller, ensure that the RAIDbattery is properly connected and, if applicable, the memory module onthe PERC card is properly seated.9 Verify that the cable connections between the SAS backplane and theintegrated storage controller are correct.
